Princess Kate is seen as the epitome of grace and charm during her royal duties. She is known for her smiles during conversations at royal engagements or representing the crown on demanding tours abroad.

However, a royal expert has suggested that there’s an aspect of these overseas tours that poses an emotional challenge for Kate. According to author and royal expert Katie Nicholl, who has accompanied William and Kate on several tours, the Princess of Wales finds it particularly hard to be away from her three children – Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six – for long periods.

As reported in the Daily Mail, Royal expert Nicholl said: “Kate wants to be modern, she wants to be hands-on, she wants to be present.” She explained that despite the immense wealth and privilege associated with being a member of the House of Windsor and future Queen, it is not any easier for Kate when she has to spend time away from her three children. Nicholl also revealed that during Kate and William’s 2016 visit to Bhutan, Kate confessed how challenging she found the separation.

“Despite being the Duchess of Cambridge and having the means for round-the-clock nannies, she had her mum looking after Prince George and Princess Charlotte, which struck me as just really normal,” Nicholl said. “I could see how much comfort and confidence that gave her in getting on with her job, which she does brilliantly, but I think it is always such a wrench for her to leave her children behind.”

Recent reports suggest that Kate and William have established a parenting rule to safeguard their children’s wellbeing. One of them tries to stay at home with George, Charlotte, and Louis whenever possible, while the other travels abroad, reports the Mirror.

However, there will be future engagements requiring both the future King and Queen to be away from home, meaning they will occasionally need to entrust their children to extended family members and childcare professionals.
