Delta’s decision to suspend its special service desk for members of Congress is a refreshing dose of reality during this government shutdown.

While hardworking TSA agents go unpaid and regular Americans endure hours-long lines at the airport, lawmakers will finally experience the same frustrations the rest of us face every day.

No more skipping security or getting VIP treatment while the people they represent suffer the consequences of Washington’s dysfunction.

It’s about time politicians learned that they are public servants, not royalty. These elitist perks, born in the post-9/11 era, have long symbolized the growing divide between the ruling class and everyday citizens who pay the bills.

When Congress fails to do its basic job of funding essential services, they shouldn’t get a free pass to avoid the chaos they help create.

This move by Delta sends a clear message: accountability starts at home. If our elected officials want smooth travels and secure skies, they need to prioritize keeping the government running instead of playing political games. Perhaps feeling the pinch of ordinary life will light a fire under them to end the shutdown and get back to work for the American people.
