Beyoncé Said That She Isn’t Motivated By “Charts And Sales” And Instead Wants To Focus On “Breaking Down Barriers” And Supporting New Artists.
17 years ago, Beyoncé said that she was prioritizing her artistry over chart success — and she just doubled down on this stance in a rare statement.
Way back in 2007, Beyoncé, then 26, said during an appearance on Larry King Live that she was no longer interested in chart success.
Instead, the star said, she wanted to prioritize honing her craft and “hopefully” becoming an “icon” who is still relevant in 20 years.
“My priorities change, now I’m not worried about being number one and selling millions and billions of records because, thank god, we’ve done that,” Beyoncé explained at the time.
