Breaking News: Iranian Missiles Strike Tel Aviv: Explosions, Smoke and Alleged Cluster Bombs Rock Central Israel

Published

on

A new wave of Iranian missile attacks has struck central Israel, with multiple explosions reported around Tel Aviv as air-raid sirens sent residents rushing to shelters.

Thick smoke rose over several impact sites, and emergency crews rushed to the scenes amid fears that some of the missiles may have carried cluster munitions.

Witnesses reported hearing loud blasts across the Tel Aviv metropolitan area as the Israeli military warned that missiles had been launched from Iran toward Israeli territory.

Emergency responders confirmed that several people were injured, including individuals hit by shrapnel and others hurt while attempting to reach shelters.

Israeli officials say some of the incoming projectiles may have carried cluster-munition warheads.

These weapons break apart in mid-air, scattering dozens of smaller explosive submunitions across a wide area, increasing the danger to civilians and complicating interception efforts.

In one of the strikes on central Israel, at least two people were killed and several others were seriously wounded when submunitions reportedly hit multiple sites, including a construction area. Emergency teams evacuated victims to nearby hospitals as investigators examined the blast locations.

The missile barrage is part of the rapidly escalating confrontation between Iran and Israel, with both sides trading strikes across the region.

Israeli authorities say air defense systems intercepted many of the incoming missiles, but some managed to penetrate defenses and cause damage in populated areas.

Cluster munitions are controversial weapons because unexploded bomblets can remain on the ground long after an attack, posing risks to civilians.

More than 100 countries have signed an international convention banning their use, though both Iran and Israel are not parties to the treaty.

As tensions intensify, Israeli authorities have urged residents to remain near shelters and follow emergency instructions while the military continues to monitor further launches.

The latest strikes underscore the growing scale of the conflict and the increasing risks facing civilians on both sides of the confrontation.
