BREAKING NEWS:House Investigators Move Toward Contempt Charges Against Bill and Hillary Clinton.
House Republicans are moving closer to holding former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in contempt of Congress, according to Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona.
Speaking Thursday on Newsmax, Biggs said House investigators believe the Clinton have failed to comply with congressional requests connected to an ongoing investigation.
While specific details of the alleged noncompliance were not fully disclosed, Biggs indicated that lawmakers view the situation as serious enough to warrant contempt proceedings.
“Congress has oversight authority, and when subpoenas or lawful requests are ignored, there have to be consequences,” Biggs said during the interview, adding that investigators are frustrated by what they see as a lack of cooperation.
Contempt of Congress is a rare but powerful enforcement mechanism that can be pursued when individuals refuse to provide testimony or documents requested by lawmakers.
If approved by the relevant committee and the full House, contempt charges could potentially be referred to the Department of Justice for further action, though such referrals do not guarantee prosecution.
The Clintons have not publicly responded to Biggs’ remarks, and no formal contempt vote has yet been scheduled.
Allies of the former first couple have historically argued that repeated congressional investigations into the Clinton are politically motivated and have produced little in the way of new findings.
The development comes amid heightened political tensions in Washington as House Republicans expand oversight efforts into several high-profile figures and institutions.
Any move to formally hold the Clinton in contempt would likely trigger intense legal and political battles, further deepening partisan divisions.
For now, investigators say discussions are ongoing, and it remains unclear whether House leadership will advance the process to a formal vote.
