BREAKING NEWS:Trump Defends Federal Agents After Fatal Minneapolis Shooting, Blames Local Leaders and Calls for Support on Truth Social.

President Donald Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social on Saturday to respond forcefully to a deadly shooting in Minneapolis involving federal immigration agents, drawing sharp reactions from local leaders and intensifying the national debate over immigration enforcement policy.

Federal agents, including a U.S. Border Patrol officer, shot and killed a 37-year-old man, identified as Minneapolis resident Alex Pretti, during what authorities described as a targeted operation in the city.

Federal officials say the man approached agents armed with a 9 mm pistol and resisted attempts to disarm him, prompting an agent to fire what Homeland Security called “defensive shots.”

The individual later died of his injuries in hospital.

In his Truth Social posts, Trump strongly defended the actions of the agents and criticized Minnesota’s political leadership.

He shared an image of the handgun and emphasized that the suspect was armed with two fully loaded magazines, questioning why local police were not present to assist federal officers.

Trump wrote: “Where are the local Police? Why weren’t they allowed to protect ICE Officers? … ICE had to protect themselves — Not an easy thing to do!”

The president also shifted to broader political attacks, accusing Minnesota officials including Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey of “inciting insurrection” with their rhetoric against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Trump alleged that state leaders were distracting from issues of alleged financial fraud in Minnesota and urged that “ICE patriots” be allowed to continue their work.

Trump further framed the incident within his broader immigration enforcement agenda, asserting that federal operations have apprehended thousands of undocumented individuals and warning that worse consequences could follow without robust federal action.

“Let our ICE patriots do their job! … If they were still there, you would see something far worse than you are witnessing today,” he wrote.

The president’s remarks come amid growing tension between federal immigration forces and local authorities in Minneapolis, where at least two other recent shootings involving ICE agents have sparked protests and fierce criticism from community leaders.

Minnesota officials have denounced the federal presence, with Governor Walz labeling the situation a “federal occupation” and calling for the removal of ICE agents from the city.

As the situation continues to unfold, Trump’s social media defense of federal law enforcement underscores the deep political divisions over immigration policy and law enforcement priorities in the United States.
