In ESPN interview, Patrick Mahomes says Taylor Swift hasn’t become a distraction to the Chiefs

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes opened up about the buzz and attention the relationship between Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and music star Taylor Swift has received.

In a new interview with ESPN, Mahomes said the relationship has not been a distraction for the team and it hasn’t changed the way the team plays.

“I think it becomes a bigger deal to the fan bases than it does the guys that are actually in the building,” Mahomes said. “I’ve been lucky enough to meet Taylor and see how good of a person she is. I think you understand why it hasn’t become a distraction or anything like that because everybody cares about being the best they can be every day.”

The Chiefs have lost just once since the relationship began.

Kelce has also saved his best performances for when Swift was in attendance. His two best games of the season — a 12-catch, 179-yard performance against the Chargers and a 9-catch, 124-yard game against Denver — came with her in attendance.

Mahomes said he may even go to a Swift concert in Europe next summer.

“We’ll see when we get to the off season,” Mahomes said. “Maybe I’m traveling to Europe to go to a concert or something.”

Kickoff for Monday’s Chiefs-Eagles game is set for 7:15 p.m.
