During an interview with NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Llamas that aired Sunday during the Super Bowl.

When asked when the economy became his responsibility, Trump replied, “I’d say we’re there now,” and said he is very proud of it.

The interview was recorded on Wednesday in the Oval Office, and his comments came at a time when new polls show growing public dissatisfaction with economic conditions.

A joint survey by NPR, Marist, and PBS News found that 36 percent approve of Trump’s handling of the economy, while 59 percent disapprove.

The results highlight a gap between Trump’s confidence in the economy and broader public sentiment.
