Former Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney arrested on multiple charges
After winning back-to-back Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022 and 2023, wide receiver Kadarius Toney played the 2024 season with the Cleveland Browns.
According to TMZ Sports, Toney was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault and one charge of obstructing/harassing 911 calls. The police documents allege that Toney strangled a woman to the point where she was having trouble breathing.
Per the report, the arrest stems from a domestic dispute in Georgia on Jan. 14 where he allegedly put his hand around a woman’s throat and squeezed “with enough force to cause her to be unable to breathe.”
The report further states that the alleged attack left the woman with “red marks on her neck and petechial hemorrhaging in her eyes.” Toney allegedly took the woman’s phone from her to prevent her from calling 911.
After being arrested, Toney’s bond was set at $25,000 per count. TMZ was unable to reach Toney or his representatives for comment.
Toney was already struggling to continue his NFL career before this incident. He had just two touches for the Browns in 2024 and was released in the middle of the season after appearing in just three games with 23 snaps played.
Toney was the No. 20 overall pick by the New York Giants in the 2021 NFL Draft and showed plenty of promise as a rookie, recording 39 receptions for 420 yards in 10 games.
However, a combination of discipline and injury issues led the Giants to trade Toney just one year later, and he would go on to play a supporting role with the Kansas City Chiefs in their back-to-back Super Bowl-winning seasons.
