Meghan Markle Wore Pantone’s 2024 Color of the Year for First Stop on Nigerian Tour

Meghan Markle got a stylish start on her and Prince Harry’s Nigerian tour.

On Friday, the couple—who are embarking on their first official international tour since stepping down as royals in 2020—touched down at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and wasted no time arriving at the Lightway Academy with the GEANCO Foundation in the country’s capital of Abuja. For the special school visit, the Duchess of Sussex wore a muted orange maxi-length gown by Heidi Merrick, which she accessorized with a wooden bead necklace and gold jewelry.

The hue of Markle’s dress not only screams summer, but it’s also an exact match to Pantone’s 2024 Color of the Year, Peach Fuzz. And considering the color’s call for human connection, it was the perfect choice for such a charitable event.

For glam, Markle pulled her dark brunette waves back into a low-slung ponytail with a middle part and face-framing pieces, and complemented the light tone of her dress with a bronzy glow and a peachy makeup palette.

During their outing, Meghan and Harry were greeted with hugs from schoolchildren and a welcome banner that read “We Are Honored to Have You,” as well as a performance by local singers and dancers. Once settled in, they both delivered a speech on mental health.

“We are honored to have our first visit to Nigeria be here with all of you. We believe in you, we believe in your teachers and we believe in your ability to continue to tell your stories and to just be honest with each other. There is no need to suffer in silence,” Meghan told the children per People, adding: “Make sure you are taking care of yourselves, and that begins with mental health, by really talking about whatever’s coming up for you.”
Following their visit at Lightway Academy, the couple will meet with the Chief of Defense Staff, and later in the afternoon, Harry will speak with injured service members at a military hospital.
