Patti Smith gave a subtle nod to Taylor Swift during her latest live performance.
The 77-year-old musician and poet recently put on a show in Dublin, Ireland, when she referenced Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, which famously mentions Smith by name in the lyrics.
In fan-captured footage of Smith’s recent performance, she told the audience “I’m no Dylan Thomas, but I am Patti Smith,” prompting a roar of cheers from the crowd.
In the title track of TTPD, Swift, 34, sings, “You’re not Dylan Thomas, I’m not Patti Smith / This ain’t the Chelsea Hotel / We’re modern idiots.”
