On February 5, 2026, President Trump announced at the 74th National Prayer Breakfast that a mass prayer gathering called “Rededicate 250” will be held on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on May 17. The event is part of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations and is officially titled the National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise, and Thanksgiving. Trump invited Americans from across the country to attend and said the nation would be rededicated “as one nation under God.”

The date has historical significance. On May 17, 1776, before the Declaration of Independence was signed, the Continental Congress proclaimed a national day of fasting and prayer. At the same event, Trump also announced new Department of Education guidance to protect the right of students and teachers to pray in public schools.
