BREAKING: War Secretary Pete Hegseth Declares, “We Didn’t Start This War, But Under Donald Trump, We Are Finishing It”

In a forceful national address Tuesday evening, War Secretary Pete Hegseth told Americans that the United States remains resolute in its ongoing military campaign, declaring, “We didn’t start this war, but under President Trump, we are finishing it.”

Speaking from the Pentagon, Hegseth framed the conflict as a defensive response to escalating aggression, emphasizing that U.S. forces are operating with clear objectives and what he described as “unmatched strength and resolve.” He credited President Trump’s leadership with accelerating military operations and strengthening alliances aimed at bringing the conflict to a decisive conclusion.

“Our mission is clear,” Hegseth said. “Protect American lives, defend our interests, and restore stability. We will not waver.”

The secretary outlined recent military actions, noting what he called “significant strategic gains” over the past several weeks. While he did not disclose operational specifics, he stated that U.S. commanders have been given expanded authority to respond swiftly to threats.

President Trump, who has repeatedly vowed to bring ongoing conflicts to an end, has characterized the campaign as a necessary measure to safeguard national security and reassert American deterrence abroad. Administration officials argue that recent actions have weakened enemy capabilities and shifted momentum in favor of U.S. and allied forces.

Critics, however, have raised concerns about the scope of the engagement and the potential for broader regional escalation. Lawmakers on Capitol Hill are expected to receive classified briefings in the coming days as debate intensifies over the long-term strategy.

Despite political divisions, Hegseth’s message was unequivocal: the administration believes the conflict is entering its final phase.

“We seek peace,” he said, “but peace through strength. And we will see this through to the end.”
