Donald Trump renewed his criticism of Pope Leo after the religious leader condemned his war and immigration policies.
In a Truth Social post, Trump defended his stance on Iran, writing, “will someone please tell Pope Leo that Iran has killed at least 42,000 innocent, completely unarmed, protesters in the last two months” and that “for Iran to have a Nuclear Bomb is absolutely unacceptable.”
The comments come after the pope warned about the risk of democracies falling into “majoritarian tyranny” and criticized leaders who wage war.
Trump has repeatedly called the pope “weak” while the Vatican has pushed back on his policies and rhetoric.
