Indonesia’s military confirmed up to 8,000 troops ready by June for potential Gaza deployment, which is the first firm commitment received.
“The Board of Peace will prove to be the most consequential International Body in History, and it is my honour to serve as its Chairman,” Trump said in a social media posting announcing the pledges.
Trump didn’t specify which nations made pledges or would contribute personnel to the stabilization force.
The UN, World Bank, and EU estimate Gaza reconstruction will cost $70 billion after two years of Israeli bombardment.
The meeting occurs at the renamed Donald J. Trump US Institute of Peace, currently subject to litigation after the administration seized the facility and fired staff last year.
